Eddie Ceja, Cellar-Hand

Eddie grew up in the center of Oregon wine country, being born and raised in McMinnville. Sticking near home, he enrolled at Oregon State University in 2015 and will graduate in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science and Business Information Systems. Eddie wanted a degree that would compliment his experience in the wine industry.

In 2015, at 20 years old, Eddie worked as a temp at Oregon Wine Services hand-labeling bottles. While he was there he met Brian Marcy and his wife Clare Carver of Big Table Farm. He heard stories of Brian’s entry into wine and his tales of harvests, and Eddie’s interest was piqued. He worked his first harvest that year at Dobbes Family Estate.

The following year, Eddie came into Ransom as a temp to bottle Sweet Vermouth. He kept in touch with owner Tad and was hired on as a cellar-hand in 2017. As he continues his career at Ransom, he hopes to take advantage of his degree to assist in an administrative capacity in accounting, bookkeeping, business consulting, and regulatory while continuing in the cellar and learning from Tad and Julia the art of wine-making.

On the weekends you’ll find Eddie hiking, kayaking, playing with his pug Bonnie, or shooting hoops.
